Tamfest

Entertaining families since 2015, Tamfest is a unique festival of fun, music and accessible Arts. It runs (in-person) all through October, with other online events through the year, and is based around Ayrshire’s historic and highly individual take on a Halloween theme Inspired by Robert Burns’ epic poem, Tam o’ Shanter, Tamfest’s wide range of events are less scarey and more inclusive, funny, enlightening, foot-tapping, hands-on, spine-tingling, extravagant and joyful.

What is Tamfest?

Tamfest is a festival like no other. Each year, inspiration is loosely taken from a line of Rabbie Burns’ famous poem, Tam O’ Shanter (which, at that rate, can continue to provide annual inspiration for another two centuries). This underpins a wide range of activities, from live performances and interactive art installations to music, dressing up and face painting for kids (of any age), poetry and song. The Halloween theme is simply too good to good to restrict to one day or night.

Why Tamfest?

The festival unites one of Burns’ favourite epic poems, with the one day of the year when dressing-up, putting on a performance and acting out of character isn’t only acceptable – it’s expected. The wonderful team behind Tamfest works all year round to tap into that unique vitality and bring its focus to the place where Tam O’ Shanter first set out on his grey mare Meg. In making deliberately merry, Tamfest provides fun, focus and a financial boost to local events and business.
