One of the virtual highlights of Tamfest in October will be Tam Beyond Reality – A Virtual Storytelling of Tam o’ Shanter!!

Tamfest is rooted in heritage and inspired by Robert Burns, Tam o’ Shanter. Ever wondered how marvellous it would it be to drop into this most epic of poems and see parts of the story unfold? Or how about traveling back in time to Alloway Kirk in the 18th Century on a strange haunted night similar to the one encountered by Burn’s most popular character Tam o’ Shanter?  Well at Tamfest, now you can thanks to a new virtual reality education platform edify developed through a partnership with the University of Glasgow!

Dr Pauline Mackay, Lecturer in Robert Burns Studies at the University of Glasgow and Associate Director of the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, is working with Edify VR experts to create a very unique and special event! 21st Century technology from Edify will transport Dr Mackay and the Tamfest audience back to 18th Century Ayrshire, where you will explore some of the material culture behind Burn’s supernatural epic Tam o’ Shanter – all from a setting we could only imagine… until now!

Tam Beyond Reality – A Virtual Storytelling of Tam o’ Shanter will be held on Zoom. You will be able to enjoy an immersive learning experience from the comfort of your own home and in the company of one of the world’s leading Robert Burns experts!
